About Me!
As an interdisciplinary artist, I am deeply invested in collaboration and experimentation. My work spans dance, acting, visual art, installation, and film; and at the heart of it all is a passion for building creative environments where bold ideas and honest expression can thrive. I am drawn to working with artists and creators who bring their own unique perspectives, yet share common ground with my values and interests. These intersections are where the most exciting, generative work can emerge.
My artistic practice centers around the belief that collaboration should be rooted in openness, trust, and mutual respect. I aim to be an artist who not only contributes creatively, but also uplifts those I work alongside. I strive to foster spaces that are both creatively liberating and emotionally safe. I feel very strongly about creating feminist work through a feminist lens; creating a space where everyone feels safe to be themselves and women feel uplifted by those around them. I want to uplift women in art around me and build my career alongside other talented female artists.
I am especially passionate about experimental work and pieces that challenge conventional forms and invite audiences to engage more deeply with what they are witnessing. The fusion of different mediums greatly inspires me. Whether it’s combining dance and film, blending performance and visual art, or layering movement within installation spaces, I am always seeking new ways to tell stories and evoke feeling.
I began my performance journey in second grade, making my way through a smoke-filled bar to reach the basement where I first learned to play the prim, an Eastern European string instrument, and to sing in languages such as Serbian, Croatian, and Bulgarian. My earliest experiences onstage are deeply rooted in my Serbian heritage, shaped by years of dancing and celebrating alongside friends and family. Folk dancing, done hand in hand, fostered a sense of connection that continues to guide and inspire my work today.
As a director, I prioritize giving artists the freedom to explore and shape the work alongside me. I see directing not as dictating, but as facilitating: creating a shared vision while allowing each performer to bring their full creative voice to the process. I care deeply about the dancers and actors I collaborate with and strive to honor their artistry by giving them room to grow, play, and co-create.
My love for visual art also finds its way into my practice through design and set painting. I’m drawn to the transformative power of space; how a set can bring an entire world to life on stage or on screen. Film, in particular, excites me for its ability to merge all these disciplines into a single, immersive experience.
Ultimately, I want my work to spark curiosity, conversation, and introspection. I want it to make people think more deeply about what they’re a part of, both in the moment and beyond it. I want to continue to work hand in hand with my friends and colleagues. My goal is to continue building a creative life rooted in collaboration, courage, care, and to keep pushing the boundaries of what art can be, together.
